Interfaces for Boris and Mindaugas @ The Ágape, an immersive collective experience that serves as the culmination and celebration of a six-chapter workshop series called Sensoriality: Art & Neuroscience Through Our Senses.
In 2023, the vision of Sensoriality was to investigate how our senses play a vital role in shaping our understanding of reality as we navigate the world. In each session, experts in the field of art and neuroscience explored six classic perceptive systems: visual, olfactory, gustatory, somatosensory, auditory and proprioception. As the finissage to this immersive workshop series, during The Ágape multiple artists and musicians will exhibit artworks and performances related to neuroscience and the exploration of the senses. In addition, the event features a neuroscientific panel talk and embodied practices for attendees, creating an engaging and thought-provoking experience for all involved.
/// Interfaces for Boris and Mindaugas
Interfaces for Boris and Mindaugas provides interfaces for the boxer dog Boris and his host, so that the host experiences how the dog behaves, and the dog experiences the behaviour of his host.
The installation consists of human and dog-sized objects, six interfaces and four 3D tutorials. If the interfaces are connected as intended, a bond is established between the dog and its host. To communicate, heart rate or brain activity is measured, interpreted and converted into an electrical signal which is then sent between the two actors.
While the objects have a distinct aesthetic form, the event invites the audience to try out the interfaces themselves and experience the states of the dog and/or its host.
