The ecosystem we live in is in flux. Although it is always evolving, scientists have observed a more rapid change in ecosystems than in previous years. Ecosystems are under increasing pressure from human-induced activities such as pollution, dam construction, agricultural practices, and transportation infrastructure, as well as the impacts of climate change (CEPF 2017, HELCOM 2021). We, as individuals, are also experiencing change on an unprecedented scale: winters and summers in Europe have become significantly warmer, and algae blooms in aquatic ecosystems are occurring in irregular and unusual patterns.
This video invites audiences to reflect on the factors driving ecosystem change. It also serves as an introduction to the umbrella project Love Letters to My Fellow Human.
