DIY Biolab, toolkit, video tutorial, manual
The installation invites the audience to experience the relationships between living organisms and non-living things. Symbiotic relationships are outlined in the manual with references to related artistic projects and scientific research. The tools are provided for various uses: an introduction to the first experiment explains how to grow SCOBY, and the second shows how to isolate Acetobacter bacteria from grown SCOBY. Altogether, the experiments invite the audience to implement their ideas in the exhibition framework itself.
The toolkit, video tutorial, and the manual are part of the larger project, the Introduction to Posthuman Aesthetics, developed between 2016 and 2019.
